![]() Bioethanol technologyWorld leaderVogelbusch is a world leading provider of bioethanol plant engineering services. Plants based on Vogelbusch technology produce some five billion litres of bioethanol per year. Our company was responsible for key improvements in process technology and plant design that have become standard practice over the past 30 years. An example is the VB Multicont© continuous fermentation process. Introduced by Vogelbusch in 1981, continuous fermentation now accounts for three-quarters of global bioethanol output. The advantages are reduced equipment costs, high process stability and automatability. Energy efficiencyThanks to thermal integration of the process stages Vogelbusch bioethanol plants are second to none in terms of energy savings and environmental performance. Bioethanol requires a final alcohol concentration of up to 99.95%. This is achieved by molecular sieve dehydration. Good integration of the dehydration unit can mean that the rest of the plant requires virtually no additional energy.
